The Lagos State Standing Tribunal of Inquiry into Chieftaincy Matters has adjourned proceedings over the rulership of Magbon Alade community in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area until December 14 to allow respondents to examine documents the applicant intends to tender in evidence.<\/p>\n

The applicant, Prince Alade Sikiru Ogunlana, testified before the five-member panel, presided over by Justice Afeez Dabiri, on the historical background of Magbon Alade and his family\u2019s lineage, as well as the process through which he said he was selected as the traditional ruler of the community.<\/p>\n

Led in evidence by his counsel, Ogunlana gave an account of the events leading to his selection and the steps taken by relevant community and government committees in the chieftaincy process.<\/p>\n

Following his testimony, counsel to the applicant sought to tender documents relating to his selection by the Magbon Alade Community Committee on Chieftaincy Matters, the Local Government Committee and the Lagos State Ministry responsible for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.<\/p>\n

The documents, alongside a video exhibit, were presented as part of the applicant\u2019s evidence concerning the selection process.<\/p>\n

However, counsel to the second and third respondents informed the tribunal that they had not been served with the documents and requested time to examine them and respond to their admissibility.<\/p>\n

The tribunal subsequently adjourned the matter until December 14 to enable the affected parties to respond appropriately in the interest of justice.<\/p>\n

The dispute concerns the contested traditional rulership of Magbon Alade, a community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.<\/p>\n

The applicant\u2019s claims and the respondents\u2019 positions are expected to be examined further as proceedings continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
