The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned 10 newly completed intra-city road projects in Makurdi, Benue State.<\/span><\/p>\n

The projects, spanning approximately 11.5 kilometres, are part of the broader Phase I Urban Renewal Programme being implemented by the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The First Lady noted that the projects clearly demonstrate the practical implementation of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda through investments that directly impact the lives and livelihoods of citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n

She expressed delight at the level of development and infrastructural improvements taking place in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the First Lady, the completion of the infrastructure reflects the progress and commitment of the current administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

She also commended Governor Alia for his visionary leadership and dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Benue State.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese roads, with a combined length of 11.5 kilometres, including Shire Bakut Road Dual Carriageway, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Street, Batteren Street, Alia Street, Dabo Plaza\/Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Uppo Street, Tega Bar Street, Giotto-Aca Road, and the connecting Spa Road, are pathways to economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese roads will improve mobility, enhance security, and improve the quality of life for the people of Makurdi and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs we commission these roads today, I encourage the good people of Benue to continue supporting the efforts of the Governor and to take ownership of these public assets by ensuring their proper use.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In his welcome remarks, Governor Alia said the roads would enhance accessibility, reduce travel time, and improve connectivity among communities within Makurdi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thereafter, Senator Oluremi Tinubu proceeded to Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area to officially commission and hand over a newly constructed Community ICT Training Centre facilitated by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in partnership with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).<\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, where she was received by a large crowd of enthusiastic residents, the First Lady explained that the centre is aimed at accelerating economic diversification through industrialisation and digitalisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe knowledge of ICT serves as a significant tool for empowering communities, especially women, enabling them to break traditional barriers and access new opportunities. By equipping themselves with ICT skills, women and girls can enhance their educational prospects, participate in the global economy, and support their families.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI urge members of this community to take full ownership of this centre. The success of the centre depends on your active participation and utilisation of the resources available.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The facility was named the Lucy Zaiyol Alluor Community ICT Centre in honour of an illustrious educationist and former school principal in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the fourth ICT centre to be commissioned under the collaboration, following the Zainab Bulkachuwa Community ICT Centre in Bauchi State, the Amina Ndalolo Community ICT Centre in Kwara State, and the Onikepo Akande Community ICT Centre in Ibadan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The First Lady also used the opportunity to support 1,000 women petty traders with grants of fifty thousand naira (\u20a650,000) each.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
