Hundreds of residents across Lagos Island Constituency I ,benefited from the 6th edition of the Oja Asiwaju, Eniyan L\u2019Aso Mi Food Bank initiative organized by the Member representing Lagos Island Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon.<\/p>\n

\nThe outreach programme, held on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, provided food items and household essentials to residents at highly subsidized rates ranging from 50 to 75 percent discounts as part of efforts to cushion the effects of current economic challenges on families and vulnerable members of the constituency.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the event, Hon. Oyekan-Olumegbon explained that the Food Bank initiative was conceived as a people-oriented intervention aimed at easing the burden of rising food prices and supporting residents, particularly during this economic periods.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to her, the initiative reflects her unwavering commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Lagos Island Constituency I.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis intervention is our way of standing with our people. Eniyan L\u2019Aso Mi simply means \u2018People are my covering.\u2019 We understand the pressure many households are currently facing, and this Food Bank is designed to ensure that no family in Lagos Island is left behind,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker also announced the return of The People\u2019s Market, revealing that the initiative has now been reintroduced \u201cbigger and better\u201d to provide constituents with access to quality and affordable goods on a sustainable basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe People\u2019s Market is back to deliver value, dignity and relief to the people of Lagos Island. We remain committed to sustainable programmes and interventions that directly impact the lives of our constituents positively,\u201d Hon. Oyekan-Olumegbon added.<\/p>\n

Beneficiaries and residents who attended the programme commended the initiative, describing it as timely, impactful and highly beneficial in view of prevailing economic realities.<\/p>\n

The Oja Asiwaju, Eniyan L\u2019Aso Mi Food Bank forms part of Hon. Oyekan-Olumegbon\u2019s broader constituency outreach and empowerment programmes focused on food security, social welfare, poverty alleviation and inclusive community development.<\/p>\n
