Political stakeholders from Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, cutting across apex leaders, local government officials, and ward chairmen, have thrown their weight behind the re-election of Hon. Fuad Kayode Laguda into the House of Representatives for a second term.<\/p>\n

They were unanimous in their endorsement of Laguda, citing what they described as his track record of performance in both legislative duties and human capital development within two years and three months in the Green Chamber.<\/span><\/p>\n

The motion for his endorsement at a stakeholders\u2019 engagement\/declaration of intention held in Surulere was moved by one of the apex leaders, Hon. Agboola Dabiri, and seconded by party loyalists in attendance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dabiri thanked party members for their massive turnout and commended Laguda for following in the footsteps of the overall leader in Surulere, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also praised beneficiaries of job opportunities, empowerment initiatives, and training programmes facilitated by the lawmaker for openly expressing their gratitude, noting that such gestures would encourage him to do more.<\/span><\/p>\n

On her part, one of the aspirants for Surulere 1 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, said she attended the event not to campaign but to support the federal lawmaker as he rendered an account of his stewardship to constituents.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vice Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Mr. Muiz Dosunmu, while responding, said the council had engaged property owners and contacted necessary emergency responders during the recent incident. He added that the council was planning interventions to alleviate the suffering of victims affected by the inferno.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the interactive session, Mr. Tunde Ibrahim expressed concern that despite Surulere being home to two major stadia, it has yet to produce notable sports personalities for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omo Oba Saka, on his part, urged the lawmaker to support the inclusion of independent candidacy in the constitution, noting that it would be welcomed by the people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Debo Aina from Ladega Close requested a 50kV transformer to restore electricity to the area, following the removal of the old transformer by electricity officials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alhaji Quadri Owolabi from Ward F1 urged the ruling party to intensify publicity efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections and avoid a repeat of the 2023 outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his response, Laguda disclosed that the National Assembly, during the constitutional review process, had extensive discussions on independent candidacy but noted that it remains a complex issue, with the electoral process not yet fully prepared for its implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n

He informed the gathering that most of his bills have passed second readings and public hearings and are expected to be passed into law before the end of the 10th Assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n

The federal lawmaker also assured constituents that he had consulted the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for assistance following the recent fire outbreak that affected three buildings in Surulere.<\/span><\/p>\n

Laguda has served in the House of Representatives for two years and three months, during which he has sponsored eight bills, moved three motions, and secured employment opportunities for 27 constituents of Surulere 1 Federal Constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
