The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has announced the donation of a two-storey building to house a Multimedia Resource Centre at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba.<\/p>\n

He said construction would commence as soon as discussions are concluded with the contractor, adding that the centre is designed to equip students with the skills required to function effectively as journalists, enhancing storytelling through quality video and animation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Adeniyi made the announcement at a special convocation organised for the conferment of a Fellowship Award on him by the foremost school of journalism and communication in the country.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A former student of the institute (Class of 1989), Adeniyi further disclosed that the centre would also foster entrepreneurial skills among students, preparing them for future job opportunities.<\/p>\n

According to him, as part of the NCS corporate social responsibility, he will also provide the NIJ Community Radio, currently operating online, with a dedicated space and a transmitter suitable for terrestrial service to better serve the community.<\/p>\n

He noted that the act of giving back to society is encouraged by President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n

The Comptroller-General thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him and for providing a conducive environment to discharge his duties effectively.<\/p>\n

He also expressed appreciation to the Governing Council led by Aremo Olusegun Osoba, the Provost, management, family members, friends, colleagues, and students for the honour, promising that the award would inspire him to contribute more to society.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Chairman of the Governing Council, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, described Adeniyi as a shining example within the Nigeria Customs Service, noting that revenue contributions to the federation account during his tenure have been significant.<\/p>\n

While acknowledging that the conferment was approved by the President, Osoba said the recipient made history as the first alumnus of NIJ to receive the Fellowship, an honour reserved for individuals with landmark achievements in their fields.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Provost of NIJ, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, said the induction of Adeniyi into the institution\u2019s Hall of Fame represents the values nurtured by the institute.<\/p>\n

He noted that Adeniyi\u2019s professional journey exemplifies discipline, hard work, and courage since his appointment in 2023, adding that he has redefined the Service by promoting transparency and strengthening its relationship with the public.<\/p>\n

According to him, Adeniyi\u2019s career has been marked by excellence, with corruption significantly curtailed and notable growth recorded in revenue generation.<\/p>\n
