The Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Western Zone, Dr. Musa Solih Owonikoko, has raised the alarm over an ongoing case of alleged impersonation involving the suspended Chairman of the Union\u2019s Investment Committee, Alhaji Aileru Saliu Oluwadare.<\/p>\n
Speaking with our correspondent, Dr. Owonikoko said it became necessary to alert Ilorin Emirate indigenes and Nigerians at large to avoid falling victim to the suspect, who is allegedly parading himself as the Zonal and Investment Committee Chairman while collecting money from unsuspecting individuals for land transactions.<\/p>\n
According to Owonikoko, \u201cAlhaji Aileru was suspended indefinitely as Chairman of the Western Zone Investment Committee since last year (2025) over the alleged misappropriation of union funds running into millions of naira, which he could not account for.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cAll efforts to recover the money from him proved abortive, as he refused to defend himself. The union\u2019s executive committee subsequently suspended him and appointed a replacement. Aileru later contested for the chairmanship position during the zonal election held late last year in Owo, Ondo State, but withdrew after realizing he could not win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Describing the development as disturbing, Owonikoko alleged that the suspended official is still presenting himself as the IEDPU Western Zone Chairman and head of the Investment Committee, thereby deceiving prospective land buyers in Oko-Olowo.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is surprising that he continues to parade himself in this capacity, using a suspended Ecobank account and a company, Elite City Homes Ltd., to siphon money from members of the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The zonal chairman explained that the warning became necessary following complaints from individuals who paid into the unauthorized account and later approached the union for land allocation, which was not processed through the official Western Zone account.<\/p>\n
Dr. Owonikoko further disclosed that the union has already petitioned the Kwara State Police Command and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), both of which are currently investigating the matter.<\/p>\n
He urged members of the public interested in purchasing land from the union to verify all transactions, noting that Alhaji Abdul Kareem Amusat is the duly recognized Chairman of the Zonal Investment Committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who transacts business with Alhaji Aileru or his company on behalf of the IEDPU Western Zone does so at his or her own risk,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n
