Political activities intensified in Lagos on Wednesday as delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the South-West geopolitical zone converged on Onikan Stadium for the party\u2019s much-anticipated Zonal Congress.<\/p>\n

The venue witnessed a steady influx of party leaders, stakeholders, and accredited delegates, setting the tone for a significant gathering aimed at shaping the party\u2019s regional leadership structure ahead of future electoral contests.<\/p>\n

The Zonal Congress, a key internal process of the party, is designed to elect officials responsible for overseeing operations within the region and reinforcing the party\u2019s political machinery. A total of 3,188 delegates drawn from the six South-West states took part in the exercise.<\/p>\n

Party executives emerged through a consensus arrangement, which was subsequently ratified by a voice vote. Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, explained that the consensus approach aligned with provisions of the Electoral Act.<\/p>\n

At the end of the exercise, Isaacs Kekemeke was returned as the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West). Other officials elected include Femi Aluko as Secretary, Lateef Ibirogba as Organising Secretary, Ayo Afolabi as Publicity Secretary, Adeduyi Daramola as Youth Leader, Ismail Majaro as Legal Adviser, and Dayo Ishola as Representative of Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n

Leaders of the party at the congress expressed confidence in the APC\u2019s electoral prospects, pledging to secure a decisive victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.<\/p>\n

The event attracted several high-profile figures, including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji; and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.<\/p>\n

Also present were former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba; Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa; and the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, among others.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the South-West governors, Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the exercise as orderly and indicative of the party\u2019s cohesion in the region. He noted that the process reflected internal harmony and the strength of the APC\u2019s political structure in the South-West.<\/p>\n

In a message delivered on behalf of the party\u2019s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to consolidate on the party\u2019s gains ahead of the next general elections.<\/p>\n
