The Commander of the 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Olufemi Owolabi, has called for improved collaboration and information sharing between security operatives and the public to enhance the safety of lives and property across the country.<\/p>\n

Brigadier General Owolabi, who is the 46th Commander of the 9th Brigade, also assured residents of watertight security and 24-hour surveillance in communities within the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).<\/p>\n

The Army chief gave this assurance during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe Kingdom, Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeniyi, in Yaba LCDA.<\/p>\n

Brigadier General Owolabi, a member of the 47 Regular Course of the Nigerian Army, disclosed that he was delighted to visit the palace, noting the swift response to security issues in areas under his jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

According to him, another reason for the visit was to pay respect to the traditional ruler, whom he met shortly after resuming at his new posting.<\/p>\n

He further explained that the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe drew his attention due to his uncommon passion for discipline and strong sense of time management at an event he attended.<\/p>\n

Brigadier General Owolabi told Kabiyesi and the chiefs of the kingdom that they are well positioned to observe happenings within their communities and appealed for genuine and timely information that would help keep Lagos safe as part of their civic responsibility.<\/p>\n

In his response, His Royal Majesty, Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeniyi, lamented the low turnout of residents willing to join the police, but promised to encourage his subjects to participate actively in safeguarding the nation.<\/p>\n

The monarch demonstrated this commitment by offering his daughter to join the Nigerian Army.<\/p>\n

He added that since ascending the throne, recurring violence in Fadeyi and its environs has significantly reduced.<\/p>\n

The traditional ruler described the visit as the beginning of a stronger relationship between the community and the 9th Brigade Command.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, Olori Mosunmola Owolabi commended the military for their patriotism in protecting the nation.<\/p>\n
