The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident over the weekend opposite Beechwood, Shapati, inward Ajah, along the Lekki\u2013Epe Expressway, which claimed the lives of four passengers and left four others critically injured.<\/p>\n

The collision involved a HOWO truck (KNN 313 YL) and a fully loaded Suzuki commercial mini bus, commonly known as a \u201cKorope.\u201d Preliminary reports indicate that the truck driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer across the carriageway and collide violently with the oncoming mini bus.<\/p>\n

The impact resulted in the immediate death of four male passengers, while four others\u2014two men and two women\u2014sustained severe fractures after becoming trapped in the wreckage. LASTMA personnel, alongside other emergency responders and passersby, quickly extricated the injured from the crushed vehicle.<\/p>\n

The critically injured were transported to Hamon Royal Hospital for urgent medical care, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Shency Hospital Morgue by an FRSC emergency ambulance.<\/p>\n

Security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Elemoro Division, maintained order at the scene, ensuring the safety of rescue workers and other road users. A thorough investigation into the cause of the collision has been promised by the police.<\/p>\n

The truck driver and his aide reportedly fled the scene following the accident.<\/p>\n

LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured and commended the efforts of all emergency responders whose prompt intervention saved lives.<\/p>\n

Bakare-Oki further urged motorists, particularly operators of articulated vehicles, to exercise caution, comply with traffic regulations, and adopt responsible driving practices to prevent similar tragedies across Lagos State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
