The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator <\/span>Oluremi Tinubu<\/span>, has commissioned the National Assembly Christian Chapel.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the ceremony, which was also attended by former Head of State, General <\/span>Yakubu Gowon<\/span>, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. <\/span>Yakubu Dogara<\/span>, among other dignitaries, the First Lady noted that the chapel stands as a reminder that while the National Assembly legislates for the people, it ultimately remains accountable to God.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs we dedicate this chapel today, may it inspire humility in leadership, courage in decision-making and compassion in service. May Nigeria continue to flourish as we collectively seek the face of God in worship and prayers in this chapel, in Jesus\u2019 name,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI believe the National Assembly is ready to pray Nigeria into greatness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, General Yakubu Gowon urged legislators to ensure that their actions are always in the best interest of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that the law of God is premised on love for neighbours and love for God, adding that this should guide the spirit and conduct of the National Assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLove must be used to ensure the unity and continuity of this nation,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGod loves us all, and we must love one another.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Also speaking, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and initiator of the chapel during the 8th National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, said that national development, healing and progress are anchored on repentance, noting that the chapel should serve as a place for sincere reflection and repentance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLet it be a centre for unity, and let it be all about Jesus. The only thing that can keep us here is unity,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Senate, Senator <\/span>Godswill Akpabio<\/span>, explained that President <\/span>Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/span>continues to receive support because of the quality of his leadership and reform-driven agenda. He urged Nigerians to look beyond religious differences and focus on the quality of leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n

He prayed that God would continue to use the President and other leaders in government as instruments of peace for the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile men legislate for a season, God legislates for eternity. Lawmaking must be guided by conscience, anchored in righteousness and established through prayers,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a nation honours and trusts God, God establishes its future. The strength of a nation lies not only in its institutions but also in its recognition of God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayers were offered for the nation, the President, leaders at all levels and the National Assembly.
