The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Fayoade Adegoke, has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) by the Police Service Commission<\/a> (PSC).<\/p>\n It was reliably gathered that the PSC\u2019s approval followed Adegoke\u2019s exceptional performance in the Commission\u2019s written examination and oral interview.<\/p>\n An authoritative source revealed that DIG Fayoade began his police career in 1992, adding that over three decades of distinguished service to the nation, he has built a meritorious and enviable record that earned him the new promotion.<\/p>\n It will be recalled that until his promotion, he served as the AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, where he excelled in community policing initiatives and strategic operations, including the dismantling of the notorious \u201cBillionaires\u201d kidnapping gang in Lagos.<\/p>\n The PSC spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu<\/a>, said the Chairman of the Commission, Hashimu Salihu Argungu<\/a> (rtd), charged the new DIG to view his promotion as a call to greater responsibility.<\/p>\n Citing some of DIG Adegoke\u2019s records that earned him the elevation, Kalu highlighted his numerous international and national accolades, including the 2024 Crime Buster of the Year for West and Central Africa; multiple Best Police Station in Africa awards (Nairobi, Kenya); Best Divisional Police Officer in West Africa (Johannesburg and Dubai); and the International Security Award from ISSO-SEC Switzerland and HSIIS United Kingdom.<\/p>\n He expressed confidence that DIG Fayoade\u2019s expertise in technology-driven policing and stakeholder partnerships will significantly strengthen the nation\u2019s security architecture.<\/p>\n
