Ade Ajayi Main Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka. Represented by his Deputy, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Umar Usman Kadafur<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, Governor Zulum highlighted that Ramadan is a period of life transformation, not only for Muslims but for society at large, as people observe rules and live in relative peace during the holy month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He also urged the organizers to hold such lectures regularly, beyond Ramadan, to continue addressing societal ills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20310 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/7a2e39fb-4e93-4e84-970d-b885bd558751-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/7a2e39fb-4e93-4e84-970d-b885bd558751-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/7a2e39fb-4e93-4e84-970d-b885bd558751-640x853.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/7a2e39fb-4e93-4e84-970d-b885bd558751.jpeg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, reminded the audience that security is the responsibility of all citizens, not just the government and security agencies. Obasa urged Muslims to shun all forms of criminality and emphasized the need for parents to train their children to become responsible citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In his lecture, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-Haq Oloyede<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, lamented that insecurity has become a cancer affecting everyone, including Muslims. Speaking on the topic <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cMuslims: The Challenge of National Security\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, he noted that fear of violence has disrupted farming and trade, reducing produce output. Prof. Oloyede also highlighted that Nigerian Muslims are often victims of insecurity, contrary to the false perception that they are not targets. She said it offers Muslims from all walks of life an opportunity to come together and chart a way forward for both the Muslim community and the nation. She reminded fasting Muslims that Ramadan is a time when \u201cthe doors of hell are shut while those of heaven are opened\u201d and encouraged them to take full advantage of this divine opportunity. Prof. Ogunsola also commended Prof. Oloyede for his standard of excellence and prompt interventions concerning the University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In his welcome address, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Dr. Abdulmumin Alao<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, President of UMA, condemned any actions by groups that could undermine democracy, reaffirming UMA\u2019s support for the current democratic dispensation. He challenged <\/span><span class=\"s1\">INEC<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> to continue improving the electoral process to ensure free and fair elections.
