The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for the recent deployment of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatunji Disu to head the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.<\/p>\n
CRAN described the redeployment as timely, noting that it reinforces the country\u2019s criminal investigation architecture with seasoned tactical leadership.<\/p>\n
The association commended the IGP for what it termed a strategic deployment, particularly at a time when the nation is contending with evolving security threats that demand experienced investigative command.<\/p>\n
Formally welcoming AIG Disu to his new position, the association disclosed that the senior police officer has a three-decade career spanning frontline operational command at the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by CRAN President, Olalekan Olabulo, \u201cThese postings placed him at the core of counter-insurgency operations, armed robbery suppression, and intelligence-driven policing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCRAN expects that AIG Disu\u2019s experience in high-threat environments will translate into strengthened forensic capacity, streamlined case management, and improved inter-agency synergy at the FCID Annex. His track record offers a replicable model for integrating tactical intelligence into investigative procedures,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
The association expressed confidence that he will consolidate the FCID\u2019s existing gains while introducing targeted innovations to enhance its forensic capabilities, digital evidence handling, and overall investigative turnaround time, which are critical components in a modern crime-fighting architecture.<\/p>\n
CRAN stressed: \u201cAIG Disu assumes leadership with a clear mandate to align the Annex\u2019s operations with national security priorities. He has affirmed his commitment to integrity, transparency, and professional conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n
The association said this ethical posture would reinforce public trust in the FCID and elevate compliance with rule-of-law standards across its investigative value chain.<\/p>\n
CRAN urged him to sustain collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, civil society, and citizens as a prerequisite for dismantling criminal networks and ensuring swift criminal justice delivery. It added that collective security responsibility remains the bedrock of sustainable public safety.<\/p>\n
However, it added: \u201cAs AIG Disu settles into this command, CRAN pledges constructive, solutions-focused engagement with the FCID Annex.<\/p>\n
