Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has empowered no fewer than 1,000 beneficiaries drawn from across the 28 local governments and LCDAs of the district through her constituency empowerment programme.<\/p>\n

The presentation took place during the Lagos West Senatorial District Stakeholders\u2019 Engagement and Constituents\u2019 Mega Empowerment Programme, held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Blue Roof Pavilion, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Items distributed included small commercial buses (korope), industrial sewing machines, hair dryers and accessories, electric barbing clippers with generators, laptops, catering equipment and make-up kits. Some categories of beneficiaries also received cash grants of \u20a6200,000 each to support their businesses.<\/p>\n

The event attracted party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, as well as women and youth groups from across the Lagos West Senatorial District.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Senator Adebule said the empowerment initiative was part of her commitment to job creation, poverty alleviation and economic inclusion, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n

She explained that although the programme was initially scheduled for December 2025, it was shifted to January 2026 due to circumstances beyond her control.<\/p>\n

The senator noted that beneficiaries had undergone intensive skills acquisition training in six areas\u2014ICT, hairdressing, catering and hospitality, barbing, tailoring and cosmetology\u2014to ensure they are well equipped to run sustainable small businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis programme gives me joy because it puts smiles on the faces of our people and renews their hope in a better future. Today\u2019s edition is bigger and better than previous ones, both in scope and impact,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Legislative and Constituency Achievements<\/p>\n

Senator Adebule also used the occasion to present a summary of her legislative and constituency achievements since assuming office on June 13, 2023.<\/p>\n

She disclosed that she has sponsored 12 bills and co-sponsored six others, bringing the total to 18 bills, in addition to two motions already adopted by the Senate.<\/p>\n

On constituency projects, she listed the construction of two primary healthcare centres in Igbolobi, Ojo LGA, and Isokan area of Ojokoro, Ifako-Ijaiye LGA. She also cited the construction of a multi-purpose Youth Development Centre in Badagry and the installation of over 1,000 solar streetlights across the district.<\/p>\n

Other interventions include the commissioning of a skills acquisition centre in Mushin, construction and completion of classroom blocks in several local governments, completion of six solar-powered boreholes, donation of electricity transformers to seven communities, as well as security support programmes and assistance to persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

She assured constituents that all ongoing projects would be completed, adding that her focus in the 2026 budget year would include inner road construction and the completion of existing interventions.<\/p>\n

The senator called for continued support for her representation and urged residents to also support President Tinubu\u2019s reforms, describing them as \u201cdifficult but necessary\u201d for sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n

Appreciation to President Tinubu, Party Leaders<\/p>\n

Senator Adebule expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, APC leaders in Lagos State, party stakeholders, her colleague Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), and members of her team for their support.<\/p>\n

Yayi Applauds Adebule, Rates Performance at 90%<\/p>\n

The presence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) added colour to the event, as his arrival was greeted with thunderous applause from stakeholders and beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

Senator Yayi commended his colleague for what he described as her outstanding performance and dedication to effective representation in Lagos West.<\/p>\n

The senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District said he attended the event despite his tight schedule because Lagos West holds special significance for him as the starting point of his political journey.<\/p>\n

Describing Senator Adebule as a hardworking and proactive legislator, Yayi said she is not a \u201csit-down-and-look\u201d senator but one who consistently speaks up and acts in the interest of her constituents through the sponsorship of quality bills and motions.<\/p>\n

Drawing from his experience as a third-term senator, he rated Senator Adebule\u2019s performance at 90 per cent, noting that his assessment was based on a clear understanding of what effective representation entails.<\/p>\n

He also praised her for sustaining empowerment initiatives in the district, noting that the programme marked her third major empowerment exercise, with noticeable improvement in both the quality and impact of items distributed.<\/p>\n

Religious Leaders Commend Initiative<\/p>\n

The programme featured representation from both Muslim and Christian leaders in Lagos West.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, the Chief Imam of Ikeja Division, Sheikh Kamorudeen Adeola Illo, urged beneficiaries to use the items judiciously.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we fear Allah, we will not sell the items given to us for self-empowerment,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, commended Senator Adebule for giving back to her community, noting that beneficiaries were selected without religious bias.<\/p>\n

He attributed the success of the programme to the peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths in Lagos and prayed for the senator\u2019s continued good health.<\/p>\n

Hon. Rasaq Ajala Lauds Programme<\/p>\n

Earlier, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, Director-General of Senator Adebule\u2019s Campaign Council, praised the senator for her dedication to human capital development, especially among youths, women, artisans, traders and small-scale entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

He described the programme as a testament to her vision of a stronger, self-reliant and economically empowered Lagos West.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmpowerment is a critical tool for addressing unemployment, poverty and social inequality. Through initiatives like this, Mama West has shown that leadership is about touching lives and creating opportunities,\u201d Ajala said.<\/p>\n
