{"id":19035,"date":"2025-12-11T10:14:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T10:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=19035"},"modified":"2025-12-11T10:16:54","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T10:16:54","slug":"everlasting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2025\/12\/11\/everlasting\/","title":{"rendered":"Everlasting Foundation plans 500-capacity shelter to support vulnerable indigents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EVERLASTING\u00a0Fountain Welfare Initiative has announced plans to build a 500-capacity shelter for the homeless in Obafemi, Ogun State,\u00a0stressing its commitment to supporting vulnerable indigents.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced at the second anniversary celebration of the foundation, which began on Friday, with a community Table Tennis Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together residents, businesses and team members for a friendly competition, focusing on community spirit and local engagement.<br \/>\nThe project, according to the initiative, is designed not just as temporary housing but as a rehabilitation and empowerment centre to guide individuals and rebuild their lives.<\/p>\n<p>During the anniversary dinner and fundraiser in Magboro, Obafemi Owode Local Council of Ogun State, the founder, Abiola Adeniyi, emphasised that the goal was to provide immediate relief and stability to those facing <a href=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/news\/nigeria\/metro\/rising-homelessness-turns-oshodi-under-bridge-into-makeshift-community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">homelessness <\/a>in the community. She noted that the passion behind the foundation came from a deep desire to meet people at their point of need, whether financial help or emotional reassurance.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the plan for homes, Adeniyi said beneficiaries would receive training based on their interests and natural talents., with support from professionals in areas such as shoemaking, hairdressing, tailoring, farming, soap making and decoration among others.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19038 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79-300x238.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79-300x238.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79-1024x814.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79-768x610.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79-640x508.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7a2dd686-8327-4488-a88c-2c7f7885ea79.jpeg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She also mentioned that a <a href=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/features\/from-iart-four-developed-crop-varieties-for-farmers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">farming institute<\/a> was included in the plan, where residents would learn agricultural skills and cultivate their own food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shelter won\u2019t be a permanent residence but a training ground. We want to reintegrate people into society and help them become useful and productive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The co-founder, Victor Adeniyi, added that the foundation was created to address societal challenges often overlooked by others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are struggling with what they will eat next. This concerns us because we are members of society.
