The Commission conducts routine inspections, issues certificate of compliance to compliant facilities and event safety permits, monitors emergency preparedness, and promotes best practices in event safety, crowd management.<\/p>\n<p>Through these efforts, we help create a safe, secure and well-regulated public space for guests, staff and operators within the hospitality industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission has since inception carried out her functions using the 4Es of Safety<br \/>\na.) Engineering &#8211; to minimize risks through physical changes to systems, equipment or the environment<br \/>\nb.) Education &#8211; involves training and stakeholders engagement<br \/>\nc. ) Enforcement -to implement safety standard<br \/>\nd.) Evaluation &#8211; involves a review of our actions and improving on them<br \/>\nSo we keep by the second<\/p>\n<p>TO ensure a safe environment , we have quite a no of strategies that we have employed as a govt entity to ensure we keep a tab on activities within our domain<\/p>\n<p>Registration of Hospitality Facilities<\/p>\n<p>All hospitality establishments operating in Lagos State\u2014such as hotels, restaurants, bars, lounges, nightclubs, shortlets, beach resorts, event centres, and other recreational facilities\u2014are required to register with the Lagos State Safety Commission through its official registration portal: www.lasgsafetyreg.com. that most of them have complied in this regard and want to believe that others will do so after now<\/p>\n<p>Audit Inspection of these facilities is a continuous process to identify hazard and assess risks present within these facilities with recommendations for controls of these hazard. All these is to ensure that guests, employees even contractors stay safe within these facilities<\/p>\n<p>Event Permits for Any Given Location<\/p>\n<p>1. Event Permit Approval<br \/>\nAny event scheduled to take place at any location must obtain an Event Safety Permit from the Lagos State Safety Commission. Visit our website @ www.lasgsafetyreg.com.\u2028This permit ensures that the event venue, capacity, and operational plans meet established safety standards before the event holds<\/p>\n<p>2. Emergency Response Measures<br \/>\nEvent organizers are required to have a functional emergency response plan, which includes:<br \/>\n\u2043 Presence of trained safety marshals<br \/>\n\u2043 Availability of functional ambulance on site and or retainer<br \/>\n\u2043 Fire fighting equipment<br \/>\n\u2043 Clear emergency exits and evacuation routes<\/p>\n<p>3. Our Crowd ready Strategy<\/p>\n<p>On Events &#8211; owners of outdoor or indoor events, large or small &#8211; by large, we mean 1000 guests &amp; above\/ by small, we mean above 200 and we have the mandate of demonstrating effective crowd management systems to ensure the safety of attendees. This includes:<br \/>\n\u2022 Adherence to venue capacity limits<br \/>\n\u2022 Presence of adequate safety marshals, security personnel and or Ushers<br \/>\n\u2022 Controlled entry and exit points by ensuring these access routes are free of any obstructions<br \/>\n\u2022 Use of barriers Measures to prevent stampede, disorderliness, or overcrowding<\/p>\n<p>4.) Adequate safety and directional signs must be available. Signs must be reflective in nature and of approved quality standards<br \/>\n1. Exit routes- no venue must operate single entry, adequate ventilation \/or evacuation access must be available<br \/>\n2. Housekeeping- good house-keeping and proper cabling management must be ensured at all times<\/p>\n<p>Further to the detty December arrangement to ensure public safety, the Commission is set to ensure that safety measures are heightened to prevent unwanted occurrences and crowd-related incident and we are leaning into a three\u2011prangle plan:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u202f Pre\u2011event safety audits \u2013\u202fRunning of spot\u2011checks on venues (clubs, concert stages, pop\u2011up events) to<br \/>\n\u2022 verify fire\u2011exits, structural integrity of stages, electrical hazards and other hazards within the event venues<br \/>\n\u2022 ensure that scanners are in place to keep guns and illicit drugs out.<br \/>\n\u2022 The commission is partnering with NDLEA for those inspections\u202f and has already warned club owners of \u201cshutting down\u201d any club that flocks weapons or narcotics going forward<\/p>\n<p>2.\u202f Deployment of \u201ctourism safety marshals\u201d to events \u2013\u202fthis is a joint effort between the Commission and the Ministry of Tourism as part our stakeholders engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Personnel have been trained on crowd control and life saving techniques like first-aid and CPR application for rapid emergency response.<\/p>\n<p>The trained tourism marshals will also be visibly branded at events<br \/>\nTheir functions will include but not limited to<br \/>\n\u2022 carry out pre event risk assessment and make recommendations on infractions control<br \/>\n\u2022 guide crowds, manage entry points, and respond instantly to emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u202f Community\u2011engagement &amp; public alerts \u2013\u202f constantly touching base with facility owners within the sector(information dissemination, training etc)<br \/>\nFor club owners,<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 the use of social media, radio, and street signage will be employed to remind facility owners of the \u201cno\u2011drugs\/no\u2011firearms\/no\u2011underage\u201d rules<br \/>\n\u2022 as well as a hot\u2011line for real\u2011time reporting of accidents\/ incidents<br \/>\n\u2022 The commission\u2019s earlier meeting with club owners sometime ago stressed the need for clear signages on \u201cno-smoking\u201d and the need to have a designated smoking area(DSA) within the facility and cooperation with security personnel to keep drug dealers at bay\u202f is also key.<\/p>\n<p>For safety at the water front, we all know that drowning in Lagos are a serious concern and I\u2019m here to inform you that some of the beach resorts have been inspected and awareness is constantly on going on drowning prevention- we had one in July and we have mandated all beach owners to have life guards at these beachfronts for safer water front experiences<\/p>\n<p>By combining strict venue enforcement, visible on\u2011ground marshals, and a loud public\u2011awareness drive, the commission is set to keep the festivities lively and safe for an enjoyable detty, dettier and dettiest December.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Lanre Mojola,<br \/>\nDirector General,<br \/>\nLagos State Safety Commission.<br \/>\nNovember, 27th, 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I bring you greetings from my Director General has to be away because of exigencies of duty and he sent<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-18722","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-from-the-grassroots"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18722","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=18722"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18722\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":18723,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18722\/revisions\/18723"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=18722"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=18722"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=18722"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
