The media community in Lagos has been thrown into mourning following the death of Hajia Naimat Akinreti, wife of the former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Dr. Qasim Akinreti.<\/p>\n
In separate condolence messages, the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Lagos State Chapter, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a painful blow to the Akinreti family and the journalism fraternity.<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. AbdulKabir Garba, the MMPN commiserated with Dr. Akinreti and prayed for the repose of the deceased\u2019s soul.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe take solace in the words of Allah: <\/span>\u2018And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.\u2019<\/span> (Quran 2:155),\u201d the statement read.<\/span><\/p>\n The group prayed to Allah to forgive Hajia Naimat\u2019s shortcomings, grant her Aljanah Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the loss.
