<\/p>\nThe Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday successfully contained two separate emergency incidents \u2014 a fuel tanker spill and a gas explosion \u2014 that occurred within different parts of the Lagos metropolis.<\/p>\n
According to a statement by the Controller General, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, the first incident involved a 33,000-litre Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker with registration number AAB-942YC, which spilled its contents along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway near the Berger Car Depot.<\/p>\n

The tanker, reportedly en route from the Apapa Terminal outward Lagos, collided with a Mercedes-Benz Jeep (registration number LSR-606HX) and seven other stationary vehicles displayed for sale. Quick intervention by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service prevented what could have been a major fire disaster.<\/p>\n
Adeseye said the remaining fuel was being safely transferred to another tanker, while efforts to recover the damaged vehicles were ongoing. The Ajegunle and Ijegun-Egba fire crews were deployed to manage the situation and avert further danger.<\/p>\n
In a separate incident around 2:13 p.m., a gas explosion was reported at Orisunmibare Market, off Baale Street, Orile-Iganmu, within the Coker Local Council Development Area. The explosion originated from a gas retail outlet containing multiple cylinders of different sizes.<\/p>\n
Swift responses from the Sari-Iganmu and Ilupeju fire stations brought the situation under control after several shops were affected. No fatalities were recorded, although one person sustained a minor hand injury.<\/p>\n
Adeseye assured that operations at the market had been concluded, adding that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service remains committed to maintaining vigilance and ensuring public safety across the state.<\/p>\n
