Nigerians, especially the less privileged and middle class, have been urged to pay utmost attention to their healthcare needs and seek prompt medical intervention when necessary before conditions deteriorate.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Surulere Branch, Comrade Giwa Omobola, made this call during the celebration of this year\u2019s World Teachers\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n

As part of activities marking the occasion, the NUT in collaboration with the Elo-Fokanbale Foundation organised a free medical outreach for residents of Surulere and its environs at Obele Community High School, Surulere.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Comrade Giwa lamented that many families have lost their loved ones due to their inability to afford the high cost of drugs, medical scans, and other hospital services.<\/p>\n

She emphasised that since health is wealth, all efforts must be directed toward ensuring that people\u2019s health receives priority attention, especially in the face of current socio-economic challenges in the country.<\/p>\n

According to her, the initiative was conceived as part of efforts to contribute to the well-being of residents, noting that everything cannot be left to the government alone.<\/p>\n

The free medical outreach offered services such as blood pressure checks, general health counselling, malaria tests, and free distribution of drugs to beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

Every October 5 is set aside to mark World Teachers\u2019 Day \u2014 a time to reflect on the challenges confronting the teaching profession and proffer solutions to them.<\/p>\n

The theme for World Teachers\u2019 Day 2025 is \u201cRecasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession\u201d, which underscores that quality education is built on cooperation, shared expertise, and mutual support among teachers, schools, and educational systems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
