The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to social protection programs.<\/p>\n
Governor Sanwo-Olu was recently honored with the Champion of Care Award for BestbSocial Protection Implementation in Nigeria, a testament to his administration’s tireless efforts in strengthening the National Social Register (NSR) and ensuring all residents benefit from the program.<\/p>\n
This prestigious award is a reflection of the government’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable. Under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, the Lagos State Government has made significant strides in social protection, including the delivery of N130 billion in social protection support to over 18.5 million Lagosians through coordinated interventions.<\/p>\n
The NSR, which has become one of the world’s largest social protection databases, has been instrumental in the state’s social protection efforts. With over 19 million heads of households and individual members captured, the NSR has been transformed into a more reliable and inclusive system through the recent integration of National Identification Number (NIN).<\/p>\n
The government has also implemented initiatives like the OUNJE EKO food subsidy program, which has enhanced access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income households. The state has decentralized governance through local committees, creating a unified, grassroots approach to addressing critical issues like food insecurity and malnutrition.<\/p>\n
