The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems has commenced<\/span><\/span> the registration of <\/span><\/span>farmers\u2019<\/span><\/span> operating<\/span><\/span> in Lagos State under the <\/span><\/span>Produce for Lagos Programme<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Programme is a strategic initiative designed to stimulate increased food production for the Lagos market through structured off-take agreements. With a population of over 24 million residents and rapid urban growth, Lagos remains the single largest consumer of food in Nigeria.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Under this initiative, farmers will enjoy direct access to a secured market where their pro<\/span><\/span>duce will be purchased at guaranteed<\/span><\/span> prices. This arrangement<\/span><\/span> will reduce the risks of quality and volume<\/span><\/span> fluctuations, promote price stability for consumers, and increase farmers\u2019 incomes. Furthermore, it will expand opportunities for inter-state agricultural trade, enhance logistics and distribution networks, and strengthen the entire food supply chain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Programme focuses on both boosting food <\/span><\/span>production<\/span><\/span>within Lagos and establishing strategic partnerships with farmers in major food-producing States across the country<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

By enrolling, farmers will be integrated into a central database which will serve as the foundation for planning, interventions, and the delivery of support services under the Programme.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
