{"id":1720,"date":"2023-06-01T19:10:24","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T19:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=1720"},"modified":"2023-06-01T19:10:24","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T19:10:24","slug":"lasg-collects-exchanges-single-use-bags-plastics-bottles-from-civil-servants-within-the-secretariat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2023\/06\/01\/lasg-collects-exchanges-single-use-bags-plastics-bottles-from-civil-servants-within-the-secretariat\/","title":{"rendered":"LASG COLLECTS, EXCHANGES SINGLE USE BAGS, PLASTICS BOTTLES FROM CIVIL SERVANTS WITHIN THE SECRETARIAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><b>\u2026Flags off Activties for 2023 World Environment Day celebrations<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The celebration of 2023 World Environment Day celebrations in Lagos kicked off on Wednesday with a sensitization campaign to discourage single use plastics within the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa as staffers who came in to the complex with single use polythene bags and plastic bottles had them exchanged with multi use bags and water bottles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Addressing some of the workers who were visibly thrilled by the gesture at the Secretariat Main gate,Alausa, \u00a0the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Gaji Omobolaji \u00a0said plastic waste has become a critical issue affecting the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Represented by the Director Environmental Education, Mrs. Monsurat Banire, \u00a0he explained that plastic waste especially pet bottles and Styrofoam had become a menace in our society and getting rid of these items has become harder, \u00a0adding that an increase in its improper disposal portends great danger to human health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He explained that most times, plastic waste if not disposed properly usually ends up in the ocean, thereby endangering marine and human life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Highlighting the 2023 World Environment Day theme &#8220;Solutions to the Plastic Pollution&#8221;
