The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has observed with amusement the latest drama from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which recently announced that its 2027 presidential ticket is \u201copen to all regions.\u201d<\/p>\n
This declaration is nothing more than the loud cry of a confused party still struggling to find its footing after being roundly rejected by Nigerians in 2015, 2019, and 2023. One wonders if the PDP even remembers where it kept its compass\u2014because for a party that claims to be a major contender, such indecision on a fundamental issue only confirms its reputation as a house divided against itself.<\/p>\n
It is particularly telling that the PDP conveniently ignored the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution when it initially zoned out other regions from the presidency, only to hurriedly cave in under pressure from vested interests and desperate aspirants. What kind of unserious political association behaves in such a manner and still expects Nigerians to take it seriously?<\/p>\n
Worse still, the PDP\u2019s ticket has degenerated into a political bazaar, available to anyone with enough desperation or bargaining power. This is not democracy; it is a clearance sale of the party\u2019s last fragments of relevance.<\/p>\n
The truth is clear: the towering image of the ruling APC, under the tested leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so overwhelmed the PDP that it no longer knows whether to go left, right, or in circles. Nigerians, who daily witness APC\u2019s reform agenda and delivery of democratic dividends, have no patience for a party still unsure of what it wants to be when it grows up.<\/p>\n
This so-called \u201copen ticket\u201d is not a sign of inclusion; it is a confession of weakness. It exposes a party torn apart by power tussles, ethnic suspicions, and a chronic inability to learn from its own failures. The PDP has become a political gambling house where desperate politicians are invited to try their luck.<\/p>\n
Nigerians will not be deceived by these theatrics. They saw how the PDP bungled its zoning formula in 2023, sparking defections, rancour, and disgrace at the polls. Once again, the party has chosen to throw confusion at the nation instead of presenting a coherent vision.<\/p>\n
While the PDP staggers like a drunk in search of direction, the APC remains firmly focused on governance, stability, and reforms to secure the future of our great nation. For the opposition, the 2027 presidential election is already lost\u2014not at the ballot box, but in the circus tent they call their party.<\/p>\n
