The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on the 29th of August 2025, conducted an outreach session with over 100 members of the Omo Onile community in Baiyeku Igbogbo LCDA, Ikorodu.<\/p>\n

This engagement is part of the agency\u2019s ongoing zero-tolerance campaign, seeks to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) across Lagos State.<\/p>\n

The community leader, Chief Saheed Aleje, warmly welcomed the DSVA team while delivering the opening remarks.<\/p>\n

During the event, the DSVA\u2019s Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, was ably represented by Mr. Oluwatosin Emmanuel of the Community Engagement Department. In his address, he reaffirmed the state government\u2019s unwavering commitment to reducing SGBV to the barest minimum. He emphasized that \u201cLagos State will continue to spread the zero-tolerance message as the government strives to eliminate this menace within our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Oluwatosin facilitated an in-depth discussion on the various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, economic, and psychological abuse, using real-life examples to enhance participants\u2019 understanding. He also shed light on the pressing issue of revenge porn, explaining that it refers to the non-consensual release of intimate images, often used to manipulate or exploit victims. He stressed that such acts are criminal offenses and urged participants to report cases promptly through the DSVA\u2019s toll-free helpline.<\/p>\n

He further explained the agency\u2019s comprehensive approach to addressing SGBV, highlighting services such as case management, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) team, psychological support, empowerment programs, social welfare services, and legal assistance. Additionally, he introduced the Family Support Unit (FSU) available in various police stations where abuse cases can be reported.<\/p>\n

When a participant expressed concerns about difficulties encountered when reporting at some police stations, Mr Oluwatosin encouraged persistence and specifically recommended the Family Support Unit at Bariga Police Station, which maintains close collaboration with the DSVA.<\/p>\n

To round up the session, participants were urged to report SGBV cases through the agency\u2019s toll-free helpline 08000-333-333. Informative fliers and branded souvenirs were also distributed as part of DSVA\u2019s commitment to raising awareness and empowering communities<\/p>\n
