The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has congratulated one of its distinguished members, Imam Nojeem Jimoh, on his election as the new National Amir (President) of The Companion, a leading network of Muslim professionals and businessmen in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Delegates confirmed Imam Jimoh\u2019s emergence during the association\u2019s three-day National Conference, which concluded on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at De-Peace Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.<\/p>\n
In a congratulatory statement, UMA President, Dr. Mumini Alao, hailed Imam Jimoh as \u201ca leader of integrity, wisdom, and service.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Alao highlighted Jimoh\u2019s remarkable contributions to the Muslim community both in Nigeria and abroad, noting: \u201cHe has served as former President of the Islamic Awareness Forum (London), Chief Imam of the Lighthouse Muslim Community in Lekki, and a member of the Da\u2019wah Committee of the Lekki Central Mosque (LEMU).\u201d<\/p>\n
He further emphasized Jimoh\u2019s leadership experience within The Companion, stating: \u201cBefore his election as National Amir, he served as the National Naibul-Amir. His wealth of experience will be invaluable in steering the association over the next two years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond his religious and community roles, Dr. Alao also drew attention to Jimoh\u2019s professional career: \u201cHe is a retired oil and gas executive, former Chief Operating Officer of Taurus Oil & Gas Ltd., and currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Housing Professionals Association.\u201d<\/p>\n
On his academic background, Dr. Alao described Imam Jimoh as \u201ca proud First-Class graduate of Political Science (1986) and a Master\u2019s degree holder (1988) from the University of Lagos. He is also the current Chairman of UMA\u2019s Da\u2019wah Committee, which is charged with educating alumni members and Muslims at large about the tenets of Islam.\u201d<\/p>\n
