The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in collaboration with the Ford Foundation, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, embarked on an intensive door-to-door sensitization campaign in Isolo, Lagos, to raise awareness about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).<\/p>\n

The grassroots engagement aimed to educate residents on prevention strategies, early reporting, and available support services for survivors of SGBV.<\/p>\n

The outreach team visited several religious institutions, including Jama-at-Ul-Isamiya of Nigeria, Tawalalitu Mosque, Celestial Church of Christ (Ireakari Estate Cathedral), RCCG Zion Assembly, and Foursquare Gospel Church, Ireakari.<\/p>\n

Other stops included Iyana Isolo Motor Park, Head Start Private School, Apata Memorial School, Isolo Market, as well as key health facilities such as Isolo General Hospital and Ishaga Primary Health Centre.<\/p>\n

Residential areas covered during the exercise were Osolo Way, Aina Street, Mushin Road, Oluseye Street, Adio Bayewu Street, Onawale Street, Ilorin Street, Okeho Street, Adagun Odo Street, Oludegun Street, and Idowu Oshinfodunrin Street.<\/p>\n

The campaign featured the distribution of educational materials and direct sensitization of residents, market traders, transport workers, religious leaders, school staff, and healthcare professionals. The DSVA toll-free helpline and referral pathways were also publicized.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Head of DSVA\u2019s Public Affairs Unit, Mrs. Adejoke Ladenegan Oginni, noted that the exercise strengthened grassroots mobilization efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis engagement reached a wide cross-section of the community, and stakeholders have pledged to support ongoing advocacy and reporting efforts. Partnerships like the one with the Ford Foundation are instrumental in expanding our impact,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
