The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned recent remarks by former presidential adviser, Babafemi Ojodu, describing his warning that \u201cLagos is playing with fire and Tinubu must put it out\u201d as misleading and alarmist.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by the party\u2019s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the APC said it was disappointing that someone of Ojodu\u2019s political experience would resort to what it called \u201csensationalism, emotional manipulation, and half-truths\u201d over matters he neither fully understands nor constructively engages.<\/p>\n
\u201cLagos is not playing with fire,\u201d the statement declared. \u201cWhat Lagos is doing \u2014 and has always done \u2014 is govern responsibly, maintain political stability, and ensure the peaceful coexistence of its diverse population.\u201d<\/p>\n
The party insisted that Lagos remains a shining example of multi-ethnic cooperation and inclusive governance under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, rejecting Ojodu\u2019s comments as an attempt to stoke division and undermine the state\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is regrettable that Mr. Ojodu has chosen to stoke controversy rather than offer constructive advice. His alarmist tone serves only one purpose \u2014 to insert himself into the national conversation at the expense of Lagos\u2019 hard-won peace and progress,\u201d Oladejo stated.<\/p>\n
The party further described Ojodu\u2019s position as political grandstanding disguised as concern, noting that the political structure he now criticizes helped shape his career.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming its openness to dialogue, the Lagos APC stressed that it would not condone \u201ccareless talk that undermines our state\u2019s stability or casts unjust aspersions on our leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement concluded with a call on Nigerians to support the ongoing developmental efforts in Lagos, describing President Tinubu as \u201ca symbol of national unity, not a fireman tasked with extinguishing imaginary infernos lit by political opportunists.\u201d<\/p>\n
