The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its recent criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s appointments, describing the remarks as \u201cmischievous\u201d and reflective of the ADC\u2019s \u201clong-standing tradition of political irrelevance.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Friday, July 19, 2025, and signed by its spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said the ADC\u2019s reaction was \u201ca baseless tirade from the political sidelines,\u201d lacking substance and driven by desperation.<\/p>\n
According to the party, President Tinubu\u2019s appointments have so far demonstrated \u201ca deliberate commitment to competence, regional balance, and institutional reform.\u201d The APC insisted that the President\u2019s selections include technocrats, reformers, and seasoned administrators with credible track records across public and private sectors\u2014individuals capable of delivering on national renewal.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is regrettable that at a time when President Tinubu is restructuring governance and working tirelessly to reposition the country for economic recovery and stability, a fringe party like the ADC is engaging in petty and uninformed commentary,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
The party further challenged the ADC to showcase any constituency under its control that has seen meaningful governance or development. \u201cWe challenge the ADC to point to a single state, local government, or constituency it governs where its so-called \u2018inclusive\u2019 model has produced tangible results,\u201d Oladejo added.<\/p>\n
While noting that constructive criticism is welcome in any democracy, the Lagos APC said the ADC\u2019s rhetoric \u201creeks of political desperation, not patriotic concern.\u201d<\/p>\n
It emphasized that the President remains committed to national unity and competence, calling on Nigerians to judge appointees by their performance rather than their region or party affiliation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe real test of appointments is not where appointees come from\u2014but what they do with the privilege of public service. On that score, we remain confident in this administration\u2019s direction and vision,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
