{"id":15685,"date":"2025-07-19T17:18:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T17:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=15685"},"modified":"2025-07-19T17:18:36","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T17:18:36","slug":"presidency-slams-adc-over-buhari-burial-remarks-labels-statement-shameless-exploitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2025\/07\/19\/presidency-slams-adc-over-buhari-burial-remarks-labels-statement-shameless-exploitation\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidency Slams ADC Over Buhari Burial Remarks, Labels Statement \u2018Shameless Exploitation\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By Raheem Ibrahim<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Presidency has strongly rebuked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent comments alleging that the Tinubu administration is politicising the death and state burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release issued by Mr. Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, the Presidency described the ADC\u2019s statement as \u201can opportunistic exercise in manufactured outrage\u201d and a \u201claughable tantrum\u201d by a party \u201cdesperately clutching at straws for relevance it will never attain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the ADC\u2019s accusation that President Bola Tinubu\u2019s government is \u201cexploiting\u201d Buhari\u2019s passing for political gain is not only \u201cdishonest\u201d but also \u201can insult to millions of Nigerians who genuinely mourn the loss of a statesman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ADC is the one exploiting Buhari\u2019s death for political attention, not this government,\u201d Dare said, accusing the opposition party of attempting to make political capital out of a solemn national moment.<\/p>\n<p>The press statement pointed to the presence of political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai at the burial in Daura, describing their appearance as \u201cchoreographed\u201d and aimed at \u201cscouting new territory\u201d rather than paying genuine respects.<\/p>\n<p>Dare defended the government\u2019s handling of the burial, stating it was conducted with full national honours and dignity, attracting both international attention and national unity. He noted that millions of Nigerians followed the ceremony through broadcast and online platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Listing the administration\u2019s accomplishments, Dare outlined several policy and infrastructural gains under Tinubu\u2019s leadership, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stabilisation of the naira and harmonisation of exchange rates<\/li>\n<li>Increased oil production reaching 1.7 million barrels per day<\/li>\n<li>A 60% rise in FAAC allocations<\/li>\n<li>Salary and pension payments resumed in 31 previously debt-ridden states<\/li>\n<li>Electricity restored in underserved communities<\/li>\n<li>Major road projects such as the Ogbia-Nembe Road and Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway<\/li>\n<li>Launch of the NELFUND student loan scheme benefiting over 400,000 students<\/li>\n<li>Establishment of Regional Commissions for balanced development<\/li>\n<li>Introduction of a national Consumer Credit Scheme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThese are not press statements.
