{"id":15290,"date":"2025-07-03T06:02:35","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T06:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=15290"},"modified":"2025-07-03T06:02:35","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T06:02:35","slug":"lagos-lg-election-cp-jimoh-declares-battle-readiness-assures-peaceful-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2025\/07\/03\/lagos-lg-election-cp-jimoh-declares-battle-readiness-assures-peaceful-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos LG Election: CP Jimoh Declares Battle-Readiness, Assures Peaceful Poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><b>By Raheem Ibrahim<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, has declared that his officers are battle-ready to ensure a peaceful and successful local government election across the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">Speaking with journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja, CP Jimoh revealed, \u201cWe have been meeting for several days with the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), and we have fine-tuned all arrangements to ensure peaceful, free, and fair elections throughout the 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cAs I speak, the operation order has been finalized, and our deployment plans are in place. Additionally, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has approved supplementary deployments to Lagos from contiguous states\u2014running into thousands. These deployments include essential anti-riot equipment,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">CP Jimoh noted that while the command already possesses adequate tools, the IGP\u2019s support enhances operational capacity. \u201cWe\u2019ve also brought other security and safety agencies on board. We\u2019ve had several inter-agency meetings, and we\u2019ve mapped out all critical areas for coverage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">He assured that all threat assessments have been conducted, and identified flashpoints are under close watch. The Marine Police have been mobilized to patrol both urban and rural waterline areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cWith over six million registered voters in Lagos, we encourage all eligible residents to come out and vote massively for the candidates of their choice,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">The security strategy, according to him, is divided into three phases: pre-election, election day, and post-election security arrangements. \u201cProblems can arise before, during, or after the elections, and we are ready for all scenarios,\u201d he emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">The CP stated that all 15 political parties participating in the election are already campaigning, and the police have engaged their leadership to promote peaceful conduct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">On logistics, he noted that a restriction of movement may be imposed in certain areas on election day. \u201cOur control room will be fully operational at the command headquarters, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations coordinating real-time responses with military and agency representatives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">He concluded by affirming the command\u2019s collaboration with LASIEC to ensure security before, during, and after the election. \u201cWe are on the same page.
