The Federal Government has debunked claims that the South East is excluded from President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration, describing such narratives as far from the truth.<\/p>\n

Rather, the Presidency maintains that every geopolitical zone in the country is well represented and now benefits from dedicated commissions tasked with improving infrastructure in each region.<\/p>\n

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, gave this clarification during a session with media executives in Lagos.<\/p>\n

He noted that the current Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, hails from the South East, and emphasized that all parts of the country have benefited from the 206 roads constructed nationwide so far under his tenure.<\/p>\n

According to Onanuga, the widely acknowledged performance of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is a result of the autonomy granted to him by President Tinubu \u2014 including exemptions from the Treasury Single Account and direct oversight by the Civil Service Commission.<\/p>\n

Onanuga, however, expressed concern that many Nigerians remain silent when they benefit from government palliatives, conditional cash transfers, and other welfare packages.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Mr. Sunday Dare, said the current security challenges are of great concern to the President, and that proactive steps are being taken to address them.<\/p>\n

He urged Nigerians to trust the President\u2019s leadership, noting that some of the security strategies are not publicly discussed to avoid compromising their effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Dare disclosed that the National Assembly has passed the second reading of the National Forest Guards Bill, which will enable the recruitment, training, and equipping of guards with firepower to combat insurgents and kidnappers.<\/p>\n

He added that the initiative will not only strengthen the second layer of national security but also create employment opportunities across the country.<\/p>\n

All security formations \u2014 including the DSS, Army, and Police \u2014 are now working more closely and sharing intelligence to win the battle against insecurity, he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Dare revealed that President Tinubu has expanded the ongoing conditional cash transfer programme to cover 15 million Nigerians. Additionally, six million households have benefited from the \u20a675,000 cash transfer scheme.<\/p>\n

He urged Nigerians to pay closer attention to sub-national governments, which receive up to 62% of federal allocations, stressing that if states and local governments perform their duties effectively, the country will be a better place for all.<\/p>\n

Dare concluded by calling on the media and citizens alike to hold governors and local council chairmen accountable for the increased allocations they now receive from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
