{"id":13511,"date":"2025-04-18T13:59:29","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T13:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=13511"},"modified":"2025-04-18T13:59:29","modified_gmt":"2025-04-18T13:59:29","slug":"easter-ogun-urges-residents-to-celebrate-in-a-clean-safe-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2025\/04\/18\/easter-ogun-urges-residents-to-celebrate-in-a-clean-safe-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"EASTER: OGUN URGES RESIDENTS TO CELEBRATE IN A CLEAN, SAFE ENVIRONMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the world celebrates this year\u2019s Easter season, the Ogun State Government has called on residents and visitors alike to observe the holiday in a clean, healthy, and safe environment.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Ola Oresanya, made this appeal in a statement issued in Abeokuta.<\/p>\n<p>While congratulating Christians and all residents of the state for witnessing another Easter season, he wished them a fun-filled celebration and urged them to make environmental cleanliness a priority.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged residents to clean their surroundings, desilt drainage channels, and store their waste in covered containers for proper collection by the PSP waste operators assigned to their areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll PSP operators in the state have been mandated to work throughout the festive period to collect waste in their assigned areas. This is to ensure effective waste management, especially with the expected increase in waste generation due to the celebrations,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, all government waste management and environmental officials, along with equipment, have been deployed across the state for special Easter duties aimed at maintaining a clean environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He assured residents and visitors of the government\u2019s readiness to sustain the clean environment the state is known for, urging them to play their part during this period of celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Oresanya also appealed to traders in all markets across the state to conduct their business in a clean, healthy, and safe environment\u2014particularly now, when an upsurge in trading activities is expected.<\/p>\n<p>He warned against street trading, noting that Environment Marshals will be on duty across the state to maintain law and order in all markets.<\/p>\n<p>He also addressed \u201cemergency traders,\u201d particularly those dealing in livestock and other goods displayed on roadsides, medians, or out of car boots and other public spaces.
