In Nigeria, one person dies of TB every seven minutes. This means that in the short time we will spend at this event, many more lives will be lost if we do not act swiftly and decisively.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Senator Oluremi Tinubu emphasized that the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">high prevalence of TB in Nigeria is unacceptable<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, stressing the need for collective action to combat the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">treatable and curable airborne disease<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13189 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477-768x511.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477-640x426.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1fc2a329-3f11-4b06-8081-9202e524a477.jpeg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAt this juncture, I would like to pledge an additional sum of One Billion Naira from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) towards the fight against Tuberculosis in Nigeria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">As the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Global and National Stop TB Champion<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, she reaffirmed her <\/span><span class=\"s1\">commitment<\/span><span class=\"s2\">to tackling TB by advocating for increased funding, policy reforms, and resource mobilization to support awareness and treatment programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI will continue to advocate for increased funding and policy reforms to strengthen TB control efforts, mobilize resources and partnerships to support TB awareness and treatment programs, and amplify the voices of TB survivors. Furthermore, I will fight against stigma and discrimination and ensure that women, children, and marginalized groups have equal access to TB care.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The First Lady highlighted the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">government\u2019s ongoing efforts<\/span><span class=\"s2\">to expand TB testing and treatment centers nationwide, ensuring that treatment remains free and accessible to all. She also reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to <\/span><span class=\"s1\">strengthening community-based healthcare systems<\/span><span class=\"s2\">to reach vulnerable populations while enhancing funding and partnerships to scale up TB control programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Earlier in his remarks, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, stated that eradicating TB in Nigeria by 2030 is achievable, especially as <\/span><span class=\"s1\">President Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> has given the ministry a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">mandate to improve the health and well-being of Nigerians<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In response to the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Sapeyi of Garki, Alhaji Dr. Usman Nga Kupi\u2019s<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> request for a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Primary Health Centre in Sauka Community<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the First Lady assured the community that the issue would be addressed, noting that she had a quick discussion with the Minister on the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The event also featured a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">health talk<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> on the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">causes, symptoms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> of tuberculosis, as well as <\/span><span class=\"s1\">on-site TB testing<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Theme for 2025 World TB Day<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The theme for <\/span><span class=\"s1\">World TB Day 2025<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> is:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cYes!
