{"id":10710,"date":"2024-11-05T07:18:39","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T07:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=10710"},"modified":"2024-11-05T07:20:51","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T07:20:51","slug":"fuel-crisis-kyari-must-go-protesters-storm-nnpc-towers-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2024\/11\/05\/fuel-crisis-kyari-must-go-protesters-storm-nnpc-towers-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel Crisis: Kyari must go \u2013 Protesters storm NNPC towers in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several Nigerians, especially youths have stormed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL towers in Abuja, demanding the immediate resignation of Group Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mele Kyari.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters, led by some Civil Society Organizations, CSO described Kyari\u2019s leadership as incompetent, citing skyrocketing fuel prices, endless fuel queues, and economic hardship in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters carrying placards with different inscriptions such as \u201cwe demand the immediate resignation of Kyari\u201d, amongst others, said the leadership of the NNPCL boss has failed.<\/p>\n<p>One of the conveners, Abdullahi Bilal who addressed journalists called for an end to \u201cfraudulent fuel subsidy\u201d and alleged importation of adulterated fuel, stating that it is a harmful practice that must stop immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we call for the immediate resignation of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe demand the complete removal of the fraudulent fuel subsidy regime that has only served to enrich a select few. Full deregulation is necessary to introduce transparency, competition and fairness to our oil sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also demand an end to the importation of adulterated fuel into Nigeria.
