{"id":1029,"date":"2023-03-24T12:44:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T12:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/?p=1029"},"modified":"2023-03-24T12:44:58","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T12:44:58","slug":"breaking-news-appeal-court-reinstates-adeleke-as-osun-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewsnow.org\/index.php\/2023\/03\/24\/breaking-news-appeal-court-reinstates-adeleke-as-osun-governor\/","title":{"rendered":"Breaking News: Appeal court reinstates Adeleke as Osun governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has reinstated Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Delivering judgment in the appeal filed by Adeleke on Friday, a three-member panel of justices held that the election tribunal erred when it ruled that the 1st and 2nd respondents (Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress) proved their allegation of over-voting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">According to the panel of judges which issued its verdict on Friday, Adeleke is the duly elected governor of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Osun governorship election tribunal, in January, held that Oyetola was able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Consequently, the majority judgment of the tribunal ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Adeleke and issue a fresh one to Oyetola as the duly elected governor of Osun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Dissatisfied with the ruling, Adeleke appealed the judgment at the court of appeal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">More to follow\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has reinstated Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun state.
