Eid-el-Fitr: MSSN Lagos Amir Urges Unity, Peace, Sustained Ramadan Virtues

The Amir of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit, Kamoldeen Abiona, has congratulated Muslims, particularly students, on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, urging them to uphold the spiritual lessons of the holy month.

In a press statement issued on Friday to mark Eid-el-Fitr, Abiona expressed gratitude to Allah for granting faithful the opportunity to witness and complete the 30-day fast. He prayed for the acceptance of their fasting, prayers, charity, and other acts of devotion.

The MSSN Lagos Amir emphasized that Ramadan was not meant to impose hardship, but to instill enduring virtues such as piety, patience, discipline, compassion, and self-restraint. He urged Muslims to sustain these values beyond the fasting period by promoting unity, kindness, and peaceful coexistence within their communities.

Abiona also extended condolences to families affected by the recent bombing in Maiduguri, praying for the repose of the victims and comfort for their loved ones. He called on both state and federal authorities to intensify efforts toward addressing insecurity and preventing further attacks across the country.

On global issues, the MSSN leader condemned what he described as a “preemptive attack” by the United States on Iran, which reportedly resulted in civilian casualties. He noted that such actions undermine global peace and called on international stakeholders to intervene and ensure adherence to agreements among concerned parties. He also stressed the need for a complete halt to ongoing strikes in Gaza, raising concerns over continued violence despite ceasefire claims.

Looking ahead to Nigeria’s electoral cycle, Abiona urged political actors to shun violence and avoid turning elections into a “do-or-die” affair. He advocated peaceful campaigns and credible electoral processes, while also calling on leaders to reflect the values of compassion and social responsibility emphasized during Ramadan, particularly in policies aimed at improving the welfare of the less privileged.

He prayed for lasting peace, unity, and prosperity in Lagos State, Nigeria, and the world at large.

“Eid Mubarak,” he added.
