Eid-el-Fitr: NASFAT President Urges Unity, Responsible Leadership, Sustained Spiritual Devotion

The President of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a goodwill message, AbdulRauf described Ramadan as a period of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to humanity, particularly the less privileged. He noted that Eid-el-Fitr not only signifies the completion of the fasting period but also reinforces shared human values and the responsibility of individuals across all faiths to support one another, especially those affected by poverty, conflict, and disease.

The NASFAT President highlighted the contributions of Muslims globally, emphasizing their role in nation-building and strengthening democratic institutions and governance systems in various countries. He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to promoting unity and protecting the rights of people of all faiths to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

He further urged Muslims not to overlook the importance of observing the six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, describing it as a means of perfecting one’s faith and multiplying the spiritual rewards gained during Ramadan.

On global tensions, AbdulRauf cautioned against interpreting the ongoing crises involving the United States, Israel, and Iran as religious conflicts. He stressed that such issues are rooted in power struggles and warned against any attempt by extremists to incite religious violence within communities.

The NASFAT President also called on leaders at all levels of government to sustain the virtues of Ramadan by ensuring that governance positively impacts citizens at the grassroots. He emphasized the need for meaningful development initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people, rather than temporary poverty alleviation measures.

He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration on behalf of NASFAT’s Board of Trustees, National Council of Elders, National Executive Council, National Working Committee, National Youth Council, and its global members.

“Eid Mubarak,” he said.
