“The best you can give children is the ability to dream on their own. Education gives that ability,” — First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

As She Meets Nigerians in Doha

As Nigeria, through the efforts of the current administration, continues to reclaim its place and dignity in the comity of nations, Nigerians in the diaspora must lend their support by working with relevant agencies back home to promote innovation.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, made this appeal when she met with Nigerians in Qatar on the sidelines of her participation at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha.

The meeting, held on the margins of the summit, provided an opportunity for extensive interaction with Nigerians—many of whom are proudly flying the country’s flag in Qatar by showcasing various start-ups and innovative solutions at the summit.

While thanking them on behalf of a grateful nation, the First Lady urged them to see themselves as agents of change who must intensify their contributions to national development.

“The Nigeria that gave us the opportunity to become what we are today—our youth also deserve it.”

“We need to hold on to the optimism that our dear nation will be great again. See all the wonderful things you are doing. I thank you for making Nigeria proud.”

“You have to do more; talk to the students, the youth at home. They must begin to change their mindset and see the bigger picture.”

To fast-track efforts toward driving development back home, she referred some of the innovators to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who participated in the meeting, for possible partnerships. She noted that more would be achieved for Nigerians when start-ups within and outside the country collaborate with relevant government agencies.

Also, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, received members of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities of Nigeria, who were attending the Education Beyond Borders Conference in Doha.
