Photo News: Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Food Security at Lagos Agrinnovation Summit 2.0

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Sam Egube, on Thursday attended the Lagos Agrinnovation Summit 2.0 held at the Harbour Point, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In his address, the Governor reiterated that the same priority attention given to the security of lives and property in Lagos State is also accorded to the agricultural sector for the overall benefit of residents.

He reaffirmed his administrationโs commitment to ensuring the availability of quality and affordable food for over 20 million Lagosians, noting that Lagos remains the biggest food market in West Africa โ a place where dreams come true.

The Governor also highlighted the vital role of financial institutions, commending banks for their continued support to agribusinesses driven by shared values and impact.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Sterling Bank, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, announced the provision of funding to stimulate genuine innovations across agricultural value chains. He also emphasized the need for government to monitor the soaring prices of food items and curb the activities of individuals inflating prices for selfish gains.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, described the initiative as a platform designed to uncover hidden creativity and talent among young Nigerians who believe in the vast economic potential of the agricultural sector. She lauded the Governorโs unwavering confidence in the youthโs capacity to drive positive change in the state and revolutionize agriculture nationwide.
