The Founder of Loving Lagos Limited, Mr. Akinlawon Adams, formally unveiled the Gelede Mask at the Onikan House of the Museum in Lagos.

The mask was recently presented to Mr. Akinlawon by His Royal Majesty, Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeniyi, the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe Kingdom, at his palace in the Yaba area of Lagos State.

Speaking with newsmen at the museum, Mr. Akinlawon explained that the initiative aims to showcase to the world the abundant beauty and glamour inherent in the culture and traditions of Lagos State.

Mr. Akinlawon, who holds a degree in Land Surveying from the University of Lagos and has travelled widely, revealed that the inspiration behind the initiative came from a brief tour of historical sites within Lagos Island with his daughter about a decade ago.

He further stated that Lagos State and Nigeria at large are blessed with immense tourism potential capable of generating substantial revenue, but these opportunities have suffered neglect over the years.

The Founder of Loving Lagos emphasized that no one should attempt to rewrite the history of Lagos. He cautioned that the accommodating, friendly, and welcoming nature of Lagosians should not be taken for granted.

Mr. Akinlawon added that he derives great joy from promoting Lagos culture and appealed to the traditional rulers, elders, and parents in Yorubaland to prioritize the continuous enlightenment of younger generations about the rich traditions and cultural values of the South-West.
