Senate Confirms Idris Olorunnimbe as NCC Board Chairman, Approves Six Others to Strengthen Telecom Regulation

The Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Board, following a successful screening by its Committee on Communications.

Also confirmed were Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East) as Commissioners of the NCC.

Additional board members approved include Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Christopher Sandy Okorie, both representing the South-South zone.

These newly confirmed appointees join the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida (North West); Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, Engineer Abraham Oshadami (North Central); and Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central), who were previously cleared to serve on the board.

According to a statement signed by Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head of Public Affairs at the NCC, the new leadership team is now fully constituted and positioned to strengthen the Commission’s regulatory capacity, enhance digital innovation, and deepen good governance within Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.
