Fire Guts Fresh FM Head Office in Ibadan
A devastating fire has razed the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, located at Challenge, Ibadan, leaving extensive damage to its studios and facilities.
According to a statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the incident occurred on Thursday evening, destroying key sections of the media house.
The inferno consumed the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as adjoining offices including the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and other operational equipment.
Efforts by staff to contain the fire with in-house extinguishers before the arrival of professional firefighters proved abortive due to the intensity of the blaze. The Oyo State Fire Service later intervened to help bring the situation under control.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, the management of Fresh FM expressed deep gratitude to residents, passersby, and emergency responders who assisted during the crisis.
“We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the inferno. However, we sincerely appreciate good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the fire,” the statement read.
Fresh FM Nigeria, founded by gospel singer and broadcaster Dr. Yinka Ayefele, is one of the leading private radio stations in Oyo State and has grown to become a household name across Southwest Nigeria.
