At-Tanzeel Schools Celebrates Haflatul Qurโ€™an and 6th Valedictory Ceremony in Grand Style

It was an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and reflection on Sunday, August 10, 2025, as At-Tanzeel Schools, Ikorodu, held its 2025 Haflah and 6th Valedictory Ceremony at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa-Ikeja, Lagos.

The event brought together dignitaries, parents, staff, alumni, and well-wishers to celebrate the academic, spiritual, and moral achievements of the graduating classโ€”fondly called The Achieversโ€”and to honour five Huffaadh (Qurโ€™an memorizers).

In his welcome address, the Board Chairman, Mr. Saheed Bashir, FCA, FCS, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successes recorded during the academic session.

He described the ceremony as โ€œmore than just a graduationโ€”it is a celebration of values, vision, and victory; a convergence of hearts and minds united in the mission of nurturing morally upright, intellectually sound, and globally competitive learners.โ€

Distinguished Guests at the event included Mrs. Kofoworola Olokun-Olawoyin, Executive Commissioner of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), and Dr. Zafaran Adeniyi, renowned teacher, writer, and CEO of Vanguards Academy.

Mr. Bashir highlighted the schoolโ€™s notable achievements in academics and governance over the past year. These included the appointment of Imam AbdulHakeem AbdulSalaam as an independent director to strengthen the Qurโ€™anic and Arabiyyah programmes, a strategic retreat for the board and management, and the ongoing Harvard Business School training for two directors.

Academically, At-Tanzeel students excelled in the 2024 Cambridge Checkpoint Exams, recorded remarkable UTME scoresโ€”peaking at 323โ€”and participated in the IGCSE exams for the first time.

The Elite Set of 2024 achieved over 95% university admission rates locally and internationally. Students also shone in national competitions, including the Nigerian Institute of Physics Contest and the PENGASSAN National Essay Contest.

Five Huffaadh graduated this year, with others achieving significant memorisation milestones. At-Tanzeel students distinguished themselves in local and national Qurโ€™an competitions, including reaching the final stage of the Taibah Qurโ€™an Recitation Contest and excelling at the UNILAG Qurโ€™anic Competition.

Beyond academics, the school fostered leadership and cultural exposure through visits to the JK Randle Yoruba Culture and History Centre, leadership camps, and strong sports performances in handball, relay races, and basketball tournaments.

The year also saw infrastructural and welfare improvements, including renovated classroom blocks, upgraded CCTV systems, 32 new hostel air conditioners, and enhanced staff health coverage.

The At-Tanzeel Parents Forum inaugurated new executives, while the schoolโ€™s Community Support Initiative donated 15 solar-powered streetlights to its host neighbourhood.

A historic milestone was also announcedโ€”At-Tanzeelโ€™s first alumni cohort will graduate from universities this year, marking a new chapter in the schoolโ€™s legacy.

Delivering her goodwill message, Mrs. Kofo Olokun-Olawoyin praised the graduates, particularly the Huffaadh, describing Qurโ€™an memorisation as โ€œnot just an intellectual achievement, but a spiritual gift and responsibility.โ€

She urged them to live by the teachings of the Qurโ€™an and commended parents and teachers for their sacrifices.

Quoting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), she said: โ€œThe best among you are those who learn the Qurโ€™an and teach itโ€ (Bukhari), before praying for Allahโ€™s guidance and blessings on the school and its community.

The Board Chairman reminded The Achievers that they leave with more than certificatesโ€”โ€œYou carry the Qurโ€™an in your hearts, knowledge in your minds, and values in your actions.โ€

He urged parents to partner with the school in maintaining discipline, especially regarding responsible digital gadget use.

The ceremony ended on a high note, with prayers, photo sessions, and heartfelt expressions of appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the event.
