NNPC Ltd Shuts Down Port Harcourt Refinery for Scheduled Maintenance

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the commencement of a planned maintenance shutdown at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), which began on May 24, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Olufemi O. Soneye, the maintenance is part of a broader sustainability assessment aimed at enhancing the refinery’s efficiency and long-term performance.

NNPC Ltd noted that it is collaborating with key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance activities are executed smoothly, transparently, and in line with industry standards.

The company reiterated its commitment to sustaining Nigeria’s energy security, assuring the public that updates on the maintenance process will be communicated regularly through its official website, media platforms, and other public channels.

The Port Harcourt Refinery is one of Nigeria’s key refining assets, and this shutdown is part of ongoing efforts to revamp and optimize the country’s downstream petroleum infrastructure.
