Sustainability for Blue Economy: IMION Holds 2-Day Executive Course to Promote Education, Research, and Policy Advocacy

The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION), established by the Nigerian Navy, is set to host the IMION Executive Course on Sustainability for the Blue Economy as part of its objective to promote education, research, and policy advocacy.

The event, scheduled to take place in Lagos on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2025, is open to individuals from both the public and private sectors and aims to enrich participants’ knowledge of maritime security and sustainability.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia (rtd), Director General of IMION, stated that the course—titled Sustainability for the Blue Economy—is highly relevant to various organizations and will enhance the knowledge and skills of their officials.

According to Admiral Udofia, the course is specifically designed for C-suite executives who are in positions to develop and influence policy formulation or implementation strategies.

Course highlights include global and regional sustainability frameworks, marine resource management strategies, community engagement for coastal resilience, a hands-on syndicate session for applied learning, and much more.

Udofia noted that IMION, as a research institute focused on Blue Economy studies, is committed to knowledge generation, policy advocacy, industry stakeholder engagement, and building collaborations, partnerships, and capacity.

He emphasized that in pursuit of knowledge and expert skills for optimizing Blue Economy resources, the Institute offers high-quality training that meets international standards, delivered by eminent and renowned subject-matter experts.
