APC Spokesman Oladejo Says Seyi Tinubu Qualified to Run for Lagos Governorship Seat
…Party will resolve complaints from primaries amicably
The Spokesman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon. Seye Oladejo, has said that the son of the President, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, is qualified to run for the governorship seat in the state in 2027.
He stated that the fact that Seyi Tinubu is the President’s son should not disqualify him from contesting for political office if he meets the necessary qualifications.
Oladejo made this clarification while featuring on The Morning Digest programme on Nigeria Info 99.3 FM Lagos, hosted by Mr. Jimi Disu.
The APC spokesman also confirmed that Seyi Tinubu is a card-carrying member of the party from the Ikeja Constituency, adding that he has contributed immensely to the growth of the party and the welfare of the people across various sectors.
Oladejo was responding to a question about comments made by the Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) of the party, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, who had earlier stated that children of some politicians should not be given undue advantage ahead of the party’s local government primary elections.
According to him, the party carefully managed the process by conducting a transparent and credible exercise. He noted that in every contest, it is not unusual for some individuals to feel aggrieved and express their concerns.
He expressed confidence that the party’s Appeal Committee, led by Mr. Lawal Pedro, will give all aggrieved aspirants and members a fair hearing.
Reacting to calls alleging the use of NURTW members to attack opposition party members during elections, the party’s spokesman explained that the APC does not condone violence or thuggery during elections.
He emphasized that the freedom of choice must be respected during polls, while urging security agencies to be proactive in protecting lives and property during electoral exercises.
In conclusion, Hon. Oladejo noted that the performance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the council chairmen across various sectors is evident and commendable.
