Lagos APC Announces Winners of Local Government Primaries Ahead of July 12 Polls

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has announced winners in the just concluded local government primary election of the party held at its secretariat on Acme, Ogba area of the state.

The successful candidates will represent the party in the forthcoming local government elections in the state scheduled for July 12th this year.

At least winners from 50 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas were announced after the end of voting by the delegates from each of the local governments.

Delegates from Iba, Oto Awori, Ijede, Lekki, and Kosofe Local Government Areas openly endorsed their consensus candidates at the event, which was ratified by the party’s electoral committee.

While briefing newsmen after the exercise, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Barr. Babatunde Ogala, described the primary election as very tasking but highly successful.

He urged all those who disagreed with the outcome of the primary to take advantage of the Appeal Committee, expected to begin sitting tomorrow at Acme, to ventilate their grievances.

According to him, in every contest, there must be a winner and a loser, adding that what should be of paramount importance to all is the overall interest of the party.

He explained that some local governments, including Yaba and Lagos Mainland, where the primary election did not hold, had unresolved issues.

Ogala thanked all the security operatives for their steadfastness in ensuring a hitch-free exercise and the medical team for being on standby to attend to any emergency.

Earlier, in a brief remark, the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, urged the aspirants and their supporters to be calm, assuring them of a transparent and acceptable primary election.

He advised that local governments with consensus candidates and far distances should be attended to first for delegates to return home safely.

The Deputy Governor also thanked them on behalf of the party and Governor Sanwo-Olu for conducting themselves peacefully and having confidence in the process.

According to him, Lagos has no opposition, but the party must be careful not to allow the process to degenerate into infighting among party members.

9.Ikoyi-Obalende – Bola Oladunjoye

10.Eti-Osa – Omooba Adeola

11.Agege – Tunde Azeez

12.Iru-Victoria Island – Aminat Alabi

13.Itire-Ikate – Odunayo Olufemi

14.Agbado Oke-Odo – Ishola Abiodun

15.Coker-Aguda – Ogidan Oshodi

Thenewsnow.org reports that officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, were on hand to monitor the conduct of the exercise.
