Massive Turnout as Oluwatoyin Oni Hosts Easter Fun Fair for Children in Obalende

It was an atmosphere full of excitement and fun as children from Obalende and its environs trooped out in large numbers to attend the Easter Fun Fair, held in commemoration of this year’s Easter season at the popular Suya Junction in the Obalende area of Lagos State.

The event, organised by Mr. Oluwatoyin Oni, an APC Chairmanship hopeful for Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA in the forthcoming Local Government Elections in Lagos, turned out to be an endorsement of his aspiration, as various groups and stakeholders at the event fully declared their support for him.

The Chairman of the Arewa Community in Obalende, Alhaji Zaki Mohammed, urged the Chairmanship hopeful to accord priority to youth education and basic infrastructure in the area.

He disclosed that Mr. Oni’s impact has been felt by residents in many areas despite not yet holding office, adding that he should not deviate from such efforts when eventually given the mandate.

The Chairman of the Arewa Community, who also made reference to the outgoing Chairman, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, noted that Obalende in particular would have recorded huge developments if past administrations had been as committed and people-oriented.

Also speaking, Alhaji Saliu Waziri, the Deputy Seriki Hausawa of Obalende, said that the antecedents of Mr. Oni were strong enough not only to speak for him but also to sell his candidacy to the people of the area.

He urged residents, irrespective of tribe or religion, to rally round the Chairmanship aspirant for the overall good of all.

On behalf of the Ndigbo in Eti-Osa Local Government, Chief Godwin Okeke disclosed that the people of the area believe in Mr. Oni’s dream to change the narrative.

According to him, the Ndigbo will speak with one voice on his mandate when the time is ripe.

The Chairman of the Obalende Community Development Association, Mr. Yemi Shodipo, declared that the youth in the area need leadership that will guide them rightly in order to add value to society.

He reminded the children to tell their parents about their experiences at the Easter Fun Fair and about the political aspiration of Oluwatoyin Oni when they get home.

While addressing the gathering, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oni, who thanked everyone for the massive turnout and show of love, assured that he would help and guide the children within the LCDA to fulfil their dreams if given the opportunity to serve in that capacity.

He said there was no doubt that the youth in Obalende have a brighter future and are capable of contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the area and beyond—if provided with a conducive atmosphere.

The Chairmanship aspirant, however, charged them to keep their dreams alive no matter the circumstances confronting them, promising to be their companion at all times.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu cannot attend to the needs of all Nigerians alone but requires support from all and sundry, especially at the local government level, to make the dream of a better Nigeria come true.

Some children also went home with special prizes during the dancing and quiz competitions held at the event.
