Ethiopia 2024: NASFAT Gets a Representative at AU Convention! Ending Violence Against Women and Girls in Africa
The pace-setting global Islamic society, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), continues to champion the rights of women in Islam with another remarkable achievement. Under the leadership of President Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulwahid AbdulRauf, NASFAT has secured a prestigious slot for its National Women Affairs Secretary (NWAS), Alhaja Ganiyat Omowunmi Babalola, to participate in the Traditional Rulers and Religious Leaders Consultation on the African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls in Africa (CEVAWG).
The convention, set for October 3rd to 4th, 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, offers a vital platform for Alhaja Babalola to highlight Islam’s strong advocacy for women’s rights and its zero tolerance for violence against women and girls. Her involvement reflects NASFAT’s unwavering commitment to addressing gender issues through an Islamic lens.
UN Women, a leading international organization promoting gender equality, is fully sponsoring this event, continuing its collaboration with NASFAT. Earlier this year, UN Women also supported the NASFAT Missioners Conference, 2024, held in Osogbo, Osun State.
Alhaja Babalola’s participation at this global forum marks a significant milestone for NASFAT, reinforcing the society’s role in amplifying women’s voices in international discussions on gender rights. This participation underscores the values of dignity, equality, and safety for women and girls in Islam, as NASFAT takes its place in the movement to end violence against women and girls in Africa.
