SANWO-OLU CHARGES JAMIU ALLI-BALOGUN TO CHANGE THE FACE OF EDUCATION SECTOR IN LAGOS
Education is the bedrock of any society, reason why every state or nation that desire to achieve growth and development must accord priority to the sector.
During the recent swearing- in ceremony of the newly appointed cabinet members in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, was emphatic on the need for the new members of the State Executive Council to work in unism in promotion of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda towards fulfilling his electoral promises.
At the event, the Governor critically reviewed the achievements recorded by the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda during his first tenure in office.
He said that performance assessment gave birth to the T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS developmental agenda. It was in the light for the sustenance of the success recorded so far after critical consideration of many variables that informed the appointment of Hon. Jamiu Omotolani Adedeji Alli Balogun as Commissioner for Basic Education.
The Governor charged the cabinet members to put their expertise into play by transforming Lagos State to 21st Century Economy.
The inauguration ceremony was marked with festival- like celebration and funfare when it was established that a seasoned tecnocrat- grassroot politician ,Hon. Jamiu Omotolani Alli Balogun will supervise the Basic Education Ministry.
The joy of many including family members, friends and political class from Ajeromi Ifelodun know no bounds at the event.
After the swearing-in, it was a rowsy welcome at the Ministry led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Abayomi Abolaji with his Strategic Team who had waited long awaiting his arrival.
Thereafter the Permanent Secretary, Mr Abayomi Abolaji received the “August visitors” at the Conference chamber of the Ministry to familiarize with the strategic Management team.
In his welcome address, he said that his co- pilots are ever ready to key into the vision of the Commissioner towards full implementation of government policies and programmes.
He promised unflinching support and cooperation of the team he described as formidable on ground in the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary assured the Commissioner that they will steadily strive to build on the previous achievements of past helmsmen in the Ministry.
The Commissioner, Hon Jamiu Alli-Balogun in his response said his first day in office was not a day of inaugural address but rather an avenue to relate with everyone as a united family.
He charged the bureaucrats on ground to be proactive, resolute and dedicated in their official responsibilities.
Hon Jamiu Alli-Balogun reiterated that he believes in future and appreciated late Professor Kunle Lawal, Mrs T O Benson and Prof. Idowu Shobowale for the tremendous turn around and revolution recorded in Education Sector.
According to him and i quote ” I believe in jawjaw, discourse, and dialogue in moving the Ministry forward in terms of policy implementation towards greater heights. It is obvious we will disagree to agree and agree to disagree on salient issues”. End of quote.
The commissioner added that there was nothing wrong understudying the progresses made in advance countries for comparative analysis but will domesticate them to suit our own environment.
He promised not to disappoint the Governor and his Deputy for considering him worthy to serve while assuring of given out his best in carrying out his responsibilities.
